Starting Monday, Heather B. will be on the air 10 hours a day on SiriusXM.
Happy hour just got a little longer.
SiriusXM’s FLY launches “The Happy Hour with Heather B.” Monday, from 6 p.m until midnight.
“It doesn’t matter what part of the world you go to, once you see a ‘happy hour’ sign you feel right at home,” the mixologist and DJ said via email.
Heather B. combines two of her favorites — drinks and Hip-Hop and R&B from the 90s and 00s — in the new show.
“This is an entire show dedicated to that audience that misses hearing Mary J. Blige, Destiny’s Child, 112, L.L. Cool J, etc., when they’re driving home from work, home cooking dinner, or getting dressed to go out,” she said.
The radio personality, whose full name is Heather B. Gardner, describes herself as a “throw-down home cook” who also likes dishing out advice.
She first entered the limelight in 1992, as a cast member on MTV’s “The Real World: New York.”
Heather B. (l.) said of Kelly Rowland (r.): “I was happy houring with Kelly Rowland the other day, and we ended up exchanging honest girl moments with each other.”
She has since recorded hip-hop albums and written a memoir.
All told, she’ll be logging 10 hours per set on the radio.
Heather B. will continue co-hosting “Sway in the Morning” with Sway Calloway on Eminem’s Shade 45 Channel.
“Sway” airs live from 8 a.m. until noon, but the night show will be pre-taped, a SiriusXM spokeswoman said.
“Even if a person doesn’t necessarily drink, there’s always a truth serum,” she said. “You just have to know the recipe and create the atmosphere.”
